The Great British Seaside

I haven't got much time to write today.  I will just post a quickie.

Here is my image of the Great British seaside.  It may not be the world famous Copacabana of Brazil, or the amazing modern South Beach of California.  It doesn't have the idylic beauty of Phi Phi in Thailand, (indeed not); or the excitement of Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast in Australia.

But it does have sea, sand and people....   and burgers and chips, cloud and rain, wind...   plastic buckets, spades and sand castles...   screaming kids, sunburned skin, noisy car stereos...   litter...   Punch and Judy...  amusement arcades, outdated fairground rides...   Victorian piers..  cheap housing, run down hotels...   lack of car parking....  flower beds and busy pubs...   souvenir shops...    did I mention cold water?

I could go on.

But they can't be all that bad because people still flock to the beach on any sunny day; and I do indeed have great nostalgic childhood memories of trips to the seaside.

Long live the Great British Seaside!   (It just needs a little updating and cleaning, that's all)
